Mid-Iowa Community News was incorporated in March 2024 with the mission of being the primary source of news and information for the Ames area, focusing on complete coverage that values local insights, diverse voices, and ethical reporting, while prioritizing community engagement and empowerment.

Its board established bylaws and adopted policies to ensure journalistic integrity and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in its publishing and operations.
